Scholarships and Financial Aid

Fill out your FAFSA as soon as possible!  See Mrs. McElligott, Mr. Rudolf, or Ms. Mathieu if you need help.

Multiple scholarships are available through the Oregon Office of Student Access and Completion.   The annual final deadline is March 1.  Most applicants require the FAFSA, so do that first.  Here's a youtube video on how to fill it out.

The following local scholarships are usually offered every year.  Specific due dates and links will be added here as they become available.

Association of Computer Professionals in Education (ACPE) - DUE: March 1, 2017

Students must have "demonstrated high interest and innovative use of technology" in high school and plan to get at least a two-year degree in a technology-related field.  For more information and details, click here.  

Bank of Eastern Oregon - Due: May 1, 2017

Blue Mountain Community College Scholarship Opportunities

The BMCC Foundation and Financial Aid offices attempt to post all internal and external scholarship opportunities. Every effort is made to keep this list up to date. However, specific details and deadlines should be verified when application forms are picked up at the Foundation Office or at the listed Web site. Applications can be downloaded at:

BMCC 2017-18 Foundation Scholarship Application - Due: March 15, 2017

High School seniors graduating in 2017, who will be attending BMCC in the academic year 2017-18 are elgible to fill out this application. The successful recipients will receive awards from $500 to $1,500 for tuition and books at BMCC.

Cardinal Booster Club Scholarship - Due:  March 15, 2017

Carl W. Troedson Scholarship - Due: May 3, 2017  May 11, 2017

The application deadline has been extended to 3:30 on Thursday, May 11.  See Mr. Rudolf or Ms. Mathieu if you need another application form.  Hand in completed applications to the office.

City of Ione Scholarship - Due: May 31

A $500 scholarship will be given to one Ione graduating senior student who plans on attending a trade school, community college, or a four year college or university. Please submit a cover letter detailing your involvement in the Ione community and at least one letter of reference directly to Kim Carter at City Hall.

Coach Del LaRue Scholarship - Applications accepted March 1 - April 10, 2017

This fund awards one $1,000 scholarship to a college-bound Ione High School Senior based on demonstrated academic achievement, community involvement and with preference given to students who have participated in the Ione High School Track Program.

Students must be continuing their education at a Community College, Trade School, or Four-Year College or University.  Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 accumulated GPA, attended Ione High School all four years of high school and shown involvement in community activities.

Applications will be accepted and awarded by the South Morrow County Scholarship Inc Board of Directors using their Common Local Scholarship Application Process. 

COSA (Confederation of Oregon School Administrators) - Due March 1, 2017

COSA  administers ten $1,000 scholarships.  Click here for more information and the application.

The Donald (Deacon) Hawkins Scholarship Fund/Pendleton Round-Up Foundation - Due: March 31, 2017

The Donald Hawkins Education Fund in collaboration with the Pendleton Round-Up Foundation is offering scholarships to individuals planning to attend Oregon State University. Two scholarships of $2,000.00 each will be made available to students. All fields of study will be considered as well as financial need, extra-curricular activities and service to others. Elks Legacy Scholarship - Due: February 3, 2017

Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of Elks members. The Foundation will offer a total of up to 250 awards in the 2017 contest. Applications for the 2017 contest are available ONLINE ONLY. The application can be found at:

ELKS National Foundation MVP Scholarship - Due: November 30, 2016

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2017 competition.

  • Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply.
  • Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
  • College students are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
  • Male and female students compete separately.

2016 Most Valuable Student applications are due to the Elks Lodge closest to the applicant's home by November 30, 2016. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The application can be found at:

Far West Agribusiness Association - Due: March 31, 2017

The application for this scholarship (up to $1,000) requires an essay on a topic related to agriculture.  It is open to all full time students in the Pacific Northwest.

Happy Canyon Foundation Scholarship - Due: March 31, 2017

The criteria used to be used to select recipients for the Happy Canyon Foundation Scholarship includes Happy Canyon involvement and participation, scholastic achievement, financial need, educational goals, service to community, and participation in extra-curricular activities. Heppner Elks Buchanan Memorial Scholarship - Due: April 30, 2017

This schoalrship is only for the High School Seniors planning on attending a trade school or Jr./Senior college next year. Please remember that in order to qualify for this scholarship you must have a parent, grandparent, step-parent, or step-grandparent that is a Paid-In-Full Member of the Heppner Lodge #358. Holly Rebekah Lodge Lexington, Oregon Scholarship: Due: April 15, 2017

Applicant must be a graduating senior from the Heppner and Ione areas. Applicant needs to intend to be enrolled in a recognized, established and appropriate Trade or Voacational school (for example: Beauty College, Mechanic, Lineman, Business, Barber). Click here to download application.

The Ione American Legion and Auxiliary Scholarship - Due: May 11

The Ione American Legion and Auxiliary is again offering a scholarship to a graduating Senior to be used in pursuit of your college education.  See the senior bulletin board for application instructions.

Ione Volunteer Fireman's Scholarship - Due May 15 - hand in at the office; applications will be picked up Monday, May 15, at 3:45.

The Ione Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship Program is open to any Ione High School Senior praparing to enter a Community College or a Four Year College or University. The scholarship is $200 a year for two years. Click here to download application.

Math Education Scholarship Award (MESA) - Due March 1, 2017

Eastern Oregon University offers a $2,000-$4,000 renewable scholarship to students planning on becoming math teachers.  Students must have a 3.25 GPA.  Applications are available here.  Please note that the original due date of February 1 has been extended to March 1.

The McGregorCompany Scholarship - Due: March 22, 2017

This program has been developed specifically for high school seniors, graduating in 2016 within our market area in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon who will be entering college in an agricultural field of study. The McGregor Company will offer up to three individual $1,000 scholarships upon the verification of enrollment in either an academic or vocational college. Click here to download application.

Mid Columbia Producers -  Due: April 1, 2017

Each year, Mid Columbia Producers, Inc. (MCP) awards multiple scholarships of $1500.00 to qualified applicants in memory of former MCP General Manager, Raleigh T. Curtis. In keeping with the attributes that Raleigh exhibited, special consideration is given to the community service, generosity and work ethic of the applicants. The awards have no financial qualifications. To qualify for these cash awards, applicants must be a high school senior or undergraduate at an accredited university or trade school. The applicant must be an American citizen, and must be a child or grandchild of a current MCP member or full time MCP employee with a minimum of of one (1) year of full time service. The applicant must submit two (2) letters of recommendation from educators, employers, community members or clergy. Applicants must reapply annually. Click here to download application.

Oregon Community Quarterback Scholarship - Due: April 31, 2017

The Oregon Community Quarterback Scholarship is a renewable four-year collegiate scholarship program for Oregon high school seniors who are emerging leaders who plan to attend an Oregon University or trade school. Click here to download application.

Oregon Wheat Foundation Scholarship - Due: February 1, 2017

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are sons or daughters of members of the Oregon Wheat Growers League, or whose parents are employed by a member of the Oregon Wheat Growers League. The scholarship is also open to students who have worked summers for grower members. Scholarship winners will be selected on school and community involvement, scholastic performance, and an essay on the wheat industry. The Pendleton Round-Up Foundation Scholarship - Due: March 31, 2017

The Pendleton Round-Up Association is offering scholarships to graduating seniors planning to attend college this fall, or students already attending college. The scholarships will be available to those students who have been involved in the Pendleton Round-Up, or whose families have been significantly involved with the Pendleton Round-Up. In addition, other considerations are financial need and scholastic achievement.

Pointe Pest Control - Due:  April 29, 2017

This $750 scholarship is primarily need based and is open to all Oregon students.

Sister Adele Scholarship - Due April 14, 2017

Funded by CASA of Oregon, this scholarship of $1,000-$2,000 "encourages and provides individuals of farmworker families that live in Oregon with the opportunity to further their academic or technical education."  For more information and the application, click here.

South Morrow County Trust Scholarship - Due: April 10, 2017 at 3:00 PM

Tillamook County Creamery Association - Due: March 15, 2017

Seniors who reside in Morrow County, or who are the dependent of a Tillamook employee, and who have a GPA of at least 3.0 are eligible to apply for these $2,000 grants.  An essay on leadership experience is part of the application.  To apply, please get an application from Stephanie McElligott or from the senior bulletin board.

Umatilla-Morrow County Farm Bureau - Due: April 15, 2017

The Umatilla-Morrow County Farm Bureau is announcing the continuation of their scholarship program. UMCFB will award up to $3000.00 in scholarships to high school seniors in Umatilla and Morrow counties who will be attending any school of higher education, including: trade school, university or community college. Priority consideration will be given to those with an agricultural background, FFA or an intended major in an agriculture-related field. Click here to download application.
