October/November - Message from Mr. Marshall

I can’t hardly believe that the first quarter of school is upon us!!! It just seems like Aug, Sept, and Oct, have flown by soooooo fast. We have started a new student and staff recognition at both the School Board meetings, and School Assemblies in which we honor an Elementary School student of the month, a 7 thru 12 student of the month and a staff member for the month as well. In Sept those individuals were: Jolene Serrano a 6th grader, Morgan Orem a senior, and Stephanie McElligott an exceptional teaching assistant. For Oct, those individuals recognized were Elementary School Student of the month Corey Rice, Secondary School Student of the month Emma Rietmann, and Employee of the month, our band teacher Bryan Bates. If you see Jolene, Corey, Morgan,Emma, Stephanie, or Bryan, please congratulate them for doing such a great job in the classroom, and around the school.

School-wide Conferences are scheduled for Nov 7th and 8th, and I would encourage every parent to meet with teachers to hear about all the great things that are happening in the classroom for your student(s). Another reminder is that the Thanksgiving Holiday this year take in the entire week of Nov 20th thru Nov 24th. Enjoy your time with family and friends.

As a follow up to last month’s principal’s notes, the Football season for the high school boy’s turned out to be an absolute success. It was a win – win situation for both Boardman and Ione students and communities. I want to express my thanks to the students, parents and communities for coming together and making this coop a success. We were able to offer a student rooter bus at a number of the games, and the turn-out for that rooter bus was fantastic.

If you ever have questions or concerns about what is happening at school, please feel free to stop by or give me a call.

Rollie Marshall
Proud Principal of Ione Community Schools
